We are very proud of the achievements of all our Alumni and recognise these at the annual Alumni Awards. 

Nominations for 2021 are now open in the following categories:

Rising Star Award
A Rising Star graduated from the School in the last five years, and has given back to the School since graduating (eg. assisting at information sessions, becoming a Mentor, offering to help with placements etc). Generally, they work in hospitality 
(although not always) and they have had a rapid or significant growth in their career since they left the School. They may have been nominated for a company or industry award; taken on higher duties or been recognised for their hard work and achievement.

Making Their Mark Award
Generally this recipient is someone who is working in middle management. 
They have demonstrated a commitment to excellence in service, whatever industry they work in. Their focus is on creating outstanding customer service experiences, building strong teams through leadership and delivering high quality results to their 
company. They are climbing the corporate ladder but they also love what they do. They have also found time to give back to the School and students in a variety of ways (eg. mentoring, placement support, guest lectures, assistance with information sessions)

Entrepreneurial/Business Success Award
The recipient of this award is a graduate who operates and runs their own business, and has done so successfully for a minimum of three years. They have been recognised by their industry as a leader or innovator in their field.

Social/Environmental Responsibility Award
The recipient of this award is a graduate who is either active within a recognised charity; has undertaken a significant voluntary involvement or has led a corporate social or environmental responsibility initiative. They care about our community and environment and want to make a difference.

BMIHMS Ambassador
The recipient of this award has displayed an ongoing and substantial support and commitment to the School and its values, in a number of ways (eg. mentoring, placement support, guest lectures, board representation etc) and is a proud and vocal ambassador for the School, its students and alumni.

Hotelier of the Year
Our graduates work in a variety of industries but they all started in hotels!
Generally this recipient is someone who is a General Manager or equivalent. 
They have demonstrated a commitment to excellence in service, outstanding customer service experiences, leadership and delivering high quality results to their company and owners. They are passionate about the hotel industry and help shape its future. They have also found time to give back to the School and students in a variety of ways (eg. mentoring, placement support, guest lectures, assistance with information sessions).

Alumni of the Year
Generally the Alumni of the Month is a graduate who has a well-established career, not necessarily in the hospitality industry. They have also found time to give back to the School in a number of ways (eg. guest lectures, becoming a mentor, offering to help with job placements etc). They have often achieved a major promotion, or corporate success. Their work has been recognised by industry in the form of awards, or they may have focused on community or charitable areas.
